Durham Bulls - The AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay DevilRays Baseball team plays many home games throughout the summer. Ticket prices range from $4.50 - $6.50.

Carolina Sting - WNBA's 2001 Eastern Conference Champions. This women's basketball team has home games in Charlotte, NC throughout the summer. Ticket prices range from $8 - $50.

Carolina Courage - Professional Women's Soccer team that plays at the State Capital Soccer Park in Cary, NC. They are on a roll this season, winning their first three games in a row! Ticket prices range from $13 - $24.

Carolina Cobras - North Carolina's Arena Football team that plays in the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena. They've started this season with two wins and one loss, so check them out! Ticket prices range from $10 - $109.50.

THE ARTS

Duke University Union - This student-run programming organization puts on a variety of different shows and openings throughout the year. Check out their website for information on featured art exhibitions, concerts, etc.

North Carolina Museum of Art - Nominated by triangle.citysearch.com for Best Attraction to Visitors, Best Museum, and Best Free Attraction, this museum is sure to please. Admission is free, but there is a charge for some exhibitions.

North Carolina Symphony - This Raleigh-based professional orchestra performs over 60 times a year, including many performances during the summer.

FESTIVALS AND ATTRACTIONS

American Dance Festival - This annual festival is a celebration of modern dance through a plethora of performances starting June 6 and ending July 20. Admission prices vary greatly, so check out the website.

Festival for the Eno - This annual festival taking place in the Eno Durham City Park featuring tons of arts and crafts, music, and food! Admission is $10 (advance) and $12 (at the door).

Kings Dominion and Carowinds - A rollercoaster's dreamplace! Less than 2.5 hours away (in Richmond, VA and Charlotte, NC) are amusement parks with rollercoasters, water rides, and great junk food. Tickets range from $36.99 to $39.99 for adults.

IMAX - This is a HUGE theatre at the Exploris Museum over in Raleigh, NC. The movies shown are not mainstream comedies or action flicks; rather, they are magnificently filmed clips of nature. Currently playing are Mysteries of Egypt, Shackelton's Antarctic Adventure, and The Greatest Places. Coming soon is Adventures in Wild California. Tickets are $7.95 for adults.

Grandfather Mountain - Take a hike on grandfather mountain, located in western North Carolina. In just under 4 hours of driving, you can check out the mountains, the nearby Chimney Rock Park, among many other nature attractions.
