Accepted Student To-Do List

If you are accepted into Duke’s Accelerated STEM Academy, you will need to submit the following items before attending our program. It is critical that we receive these materials on or before the deadlines listed below.  Failure to submit these in a timely manner may prevent you from being able to attend.

Due within two weeks of acceptance:
  • $500 Non-Refundable Deposit
Due on or before April 15, 2019:
  • Remaining Program Fee Balance
Due by May 14, 2019:
  • Medical Form 
  • Signed Participation Agreement
  • Proof of US-Based Medical Insurance (see note below)
  • Physician-Signed TB Test Results (International Applicants Only)

Health Insurance

All Accelerated STEM Academy participants are required to have health insurance that is written by a U.S.-based company. Companies our participants have previously used include USI Affinity Travel Services (www.travelinsure.com) for international students and Agile Health Insurance (https://www.agilehealthinsurance.com/term-health-insurance/lifeshield) for US students.  While travel insurance may assist you with travel costs in the event of an emergency, it will not satisfy our program’s medical insurance requirement, as many policies do not cover medical bills. Prior to attending the Accelerated STEM Academy, you will be required to submit proof of U.S.-based health insurance. Please note that participants are not permitted to use Duke Student Health Services, including Duke’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
