Academic and Advisory Services
Duke University provides a wide range of academic support services. Brief descriptions of opportunities are noted below:
- The Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides individual sessions with trained learning specialists to help students develop stronger academic skills and course specific study strategies. Some tutoring options are available, but are more limited in the summer.
- The Duke Disability Management System has a review process in place for students who request to be considered for reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 or the ADA Amendments Act of 2008. Each student's request is considered on an individual basis. Receiving accommodations on the high school level or at another college or university does not necessarily qualify a student to receive accommodations at Duke University.
- Trained Writing Studio tutors offer undergraduates free assistance with any aspect of writing, from brainstorming to drafting to revising to preparing a final paper. Tutors can also assist students with non-academic writing, including personal statements.
Additional academic support services include the following: the Math Help Room, the Statistical Education Center, and EcoTeach.
